My Accomplishments

With recent and current experience leading the Sheriff’s Office, Chris is keenly aware that one of the largest issues facing local government is funding.  Chris has been instrumental in managing the budget while still completing our mission of keeping Monroe County safe. 

Ended private security contract at Justice Center

  • established new Bailiff position at cost savings and with enhanced security.

Patrol Rifle Upgrade

  • including Red Dot or Magnified Optic and suppressors to protect from hearing damage. 

Civil Disturbance Gear

  • for all patrol deputies including helmets and armor plates.

Automatic External Defibrillators

  • for every front-line squad car funding through American Recue Plan (COVID)

Body Cameras for Jail Staff

  • funded through American Rescue Plan (COVID) funding to ensure we could investigate complaints quickly to keep staff available to work

High Level Simulation Training Equipment

  • to ensure staff are prepared to safely and effectively handle use of force incidents.

Vests with stab protection plates for Jail staff

  • Protecting our Staff at all times.

UTV for accessibility

  • for a variety of situations in areas inaccessible to standard patrol vehicles.

Crash and Crime Scene Mapping

  • and 3-D imaging acquired through a State of Wisconsin Law Enforcement Assistance grant.

Establishment of a quiet room

  • for Telecommunicators to take breaks after high stress calls.

Equipped donated boat

  • with side scan sonar to assist in locating evidence or victims.

Re-establishment of DARE program

  • funded through Opioid Settlement funds not county tax levy.

Jail peer support groups

  • funded through Opioid Settlement funds not county tax levy.

Terminated use of TASERs

  • on patrol and transitioned to 40mm less-lethal projectiles due to excessive cost of TASER contract.

BEARCAT armored vehicle

  • funded through excess funds in Sheriff’s Office 2024 budget
